Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM)
Absorbed Glass Matt Batteries [AGM] are lead-acid batteries but are completely sealed. The electrolyte is held in a fibrous glass mat that cannot be spill or leak and therefore can be shipped without hazardous material restrictions. This glass matt also provides pockets that assist in the recombination of hydrogen and oxygen gasses back into water during normal charging.
AGM batteries, give high CCA, a deep cycle and fast charging (up to 5 times faster) than other batteries. The robust construction of AGM batteries allow them to be used in harsh and extreme environments. AGM Batteries have a high vibration resistance which is why they are broadly used in the 4WD, motor home, caravan and camper trailers. AGM batteries have a very low self-discharge rate which allows them to be stored for without discharging.
